6th Edition (2017) Update to the Florida Building Code

This is to inform you that the Florida Building Commission will meet August 16, 2016 at 8:30 A.M. at the Embassy Suites, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and consider proposed modifications to the 2015 International Codes for inclusion in the 6th Edition (2017) update to the Florida Building Code and to accept public input regarding proposed modifications. Local technical amendments to the 5th Edition (2014) Florida Building Code will also be considered.  Detailed reports, tracking charts and the Commission Foundation Code Modification Review Process with linked download files containing the modifications and the committee recommendations with regard thereto are available via the Commission website, www.floridabuilding.org at the following link.

Please download the files of interest and review modifications of interest before the meeting to familiarize yourself with the issues.  Also, please be advised that no hard copy or CD will be sent to you before the meeting.
Comments on a proposed mod may be provided at the meeting. If you plan to provide additional comments “alternative language to a proposed code change” at the meeting, please make sure that an electronic version is available to be provided to the staff to be projected for consideration and bring at least 30 hard copies of the comment for Commission members and staff.

The electronic detailed reports will be used at the meeting to follow Commission action on the proposed code changes.  Although the detailed reports will be projected onto a screen for general viewing, participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop and extension cords as it may be hard to read the projected text in a large room. Electronic files of the detailed reports will be available at the meeting for installation onto participants’ laptops.  No hard copy will be available at the meetings. However, you may print the proposed mods and the summary tracking chart from our web site and bring it with you to the meeting.

For hotel reservations in Ft. Lauderdale, please contact the hotel by July 16, 2016 to reserve a sleeping room at the block rate.  Embassy Suites, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 1-800-362-2779.  Please use Group code DFI to receive the group rate.
