It is now official! On Friday, June 24, 2011, Governor Rick Scott signed HB 849 (Building Code Bill), Chapter Law 2011-222, into law. In doing so, the new law creates a new Division II licensing category for Glass and Glazing Contractors. Previously, this was a voluntary license. It also allows licensed glass and glazing contractors to install hurricane shutters. In the coming days, additional information will be posted on how the Department of Business & Professional Regulation (DBPR) and Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB) will transition from a voluntary to mandatory license.

This is a huge accomplishment for the industry.
